Getting started

Connect Codex — one line from a terminal

Codex is OpenAI's coding AI. There are two ways to give it Erawan: install the erawan command, or add Erawan as an MCP connector. This lesson covers both, and which one to start with.

Want a hand from the start? Erawan gets your first app online for free on Hobby and above.

The way we recommend: install the erawan command

If you already use Codex in a terminal, paste this line and press Enter.

curl -fsSL https://erawan.cloud/install | sh

On Windows, use irm https://erawan.cloud/install.ps1 | iex instead. It installs the erawan command, and if Codex is already on this computer, it also puts the guide in ~/.codex/skills/erawan, where Codex reads it. If you install Codex later, run erawan skill again and the guide goes there.

That guide is what teaches Codex the whole procedure: check the code before it goes up, wait until the app is really running, and when a build fails, read the log, fix the code and send it again under the same name.

The other way: the MCP connector

If you would rather not install another command, connect Erawan as a connector instead.

codex mcp add erawan --url https://api.erawan.cloud/mcp

Once it is added, a browser opens for you to approve the connection. Nothing to paste, and no key to keep. If the browser does not open by itself, run codex mcp login erawan. This line checks that it was added.

codex mcp list

You can use both at once. If you pick only one, install the erawan command, because the guide comes with it.

What to say once it is connected

Build a small page that collects email addresses, and put it online.

You don't have to explain the steps. With either way in place, Codex knows how, and hands back a link anyone can open. The first time, you don't need an Erawan account. The link lasts 24 hours, and if you sign up free within that time, you keep the app on the same link.
